General Behavioral Policy

Here on Resident Evil: Core, we have a certain degree of behavior and respect that we wish every member to have towards one another, in addition to towards the Staff that put so much work into keeping this site functional and fun. Please make sure to follow the below rules on the conduct we wish to see from you, our Staff is also held to this, frankly, even more so than the members are.

I. Respect every member of the site, and every Staff member of the site, regardless of personal feelings, past experiences, etc. If you have a problem, please take it to PM or elsewhere where others will not have to be involved in your lives. Its rude and selfish to assume everyone wants to know about you and your problems.

II. Keep all debates, arguments, etc. from involving personal comments or low blows. This ties into the above rule, we don't want to know about your personal life unless we ask about it, so please don't get into fights with other people and start talking about how they're so ugly that their boyfriend dumped them. Please, we don't want to have to take action, so if you prevent the problem from occurring, we'll all be happier.

III. Read every rule, and every announcement, and be sure to follow what guidelines it gives out. This should pretty much cover every rule that is not explicitly mentioned here, because if it becomes a problem, it will most likely be made a rule via announcement or rule addition.

IV. In the case of an absence of an official rule, the Staff holds the right to enforce newly created rules in order to maintain peace and order. This means that if the rules don't say you CANT do something, and you do it, and we don't like it, we will immediately tell you to stop doing it. Just because its not a rule yet, doesn't mean it won't be shortly, and we'll enforce it as if it was.

Additional Staff Rules

Below are a list of general rules for Staff to follow, it is presented here so that members are aware that our Staff are bound to even more rules than you are. The power of the position is matched by its obligations, restrictions, and expectations.

I. When asked a question that warrants an answer, Staff are expected to reply with an answer to the best of their ability and knowledge. Inappropriate questions, personal questions, or repeated questions , however, will be promptly ignored, as will questions that are answered by reading the site rules unless it is a question regarding clarification of the stated. Staff do not enjoy having our work ignored, if we wrote it up for you to read, read it, don't ask us to repeat it.

II. Name changes may be done when asked, assuming one has the appropriate power to do so. Rank and group changes are also to be done when asked. This only applies to legitimate changes however, the person must have the rank, or be in the group, and the name change must be the first one this month (repeated changes that occur more than once a month will be ignored.)

III. Posts on character applications are NOT to be deleted. If they must be moved in order to avoid clutter, please quote these posts and then add them into one post at the end of said application. If any Staff member is found to have deleted posts without quoting them correctly and in their entirety, actions will be taken.

IV. Staff are capable of being wrong when they make a call on decisions, however, the Staff will always put things up to vote if something is thought to be unfair or an inappropriate call by a Staff member. When the vote returns, you will accept that decision, without debate or complaint.

V. When posting on applications, do not interfere with another Staff members work unless you see something that has been missed after the initial approval has been given. Its offensive in the middle of checking a character application when someone comes in and takes over without your consent, please refrain from offended other Staff in such a manner.

VI. Staff are not allowed to have inappropriate signatures, default images, rank titles, player titles, group names, or anything else that is readily accessible by the forum. Staff are to be high quality, don't lower your quality of appearance through such things.

VII. At anytime, should the Staff find any other Staff member to be behaving inappropriately, or in defiance of the rules or the general site spirit, they may correct the other person. This is not to belittle you, rather it is to help you remember your duties and position. If you respond hostilely to such a statement (assuming it is not worded so as to annoy you) then you may risk expulsion from the Staff on those grounds.

VIII. Obey all site rules, uphold them, and do not try to get around them. Any Staff member found avoiding a rule, purposely not enforcing a rule, or plain breaking a rule, will be punished more severely than a member would caught doing the same thing. We expect Staff to behave.

Chatbox Rules

Please follow all of the below rules concerning the usage of the chatbox, failure to do so will result in a warning, followed by a kick, and then followed by a temporary chatbox ban. Should the behavior continue, a permanent ban may be issued dependent to the severity of the case.

I. Keep cursing to a joking or playful context, cursing directed at another member or cursing that is consistent or deemed to be outside of a humorous context will result in a consequences. If you so choose you may avoid it entirely and prevent the problem of misjudged contexts.

II. Materials, comments, subjects, images, videos, or links to any of the previous that could be perceived as offensive to a member of the forum are prohibited. If a member expresses that he/she finds something offensive, do not continue with it. This is within reason of course, you can't claim that the letter 'a' upsets you and expect us to find ways to not use it.

III. Do not use bright texts or unusual fonts in general that would make your words difficult to read or could harm sensitive eyes. Writing in size 8 font in bright neon green may be cute for some people, but others find it a huge strain on the eyes.

IV. If you choose to post something in the box that is an image, video, or spoiler to something, please put it in spoilers. The denizens of the chatbox might not care about that sweet picture of an orca whale you found on Google wearing swimtrunks and holding a shotgun, so put it in spoilers please.

V. All applicable site rules transfer over to the chatbox, please be aware of this. Applicable, as deemed by the Staff member currently watching the box.

Role Play Rules

I. Don't metagame, if you don't know what metagaming is then I would kindly like to point out that you're very fresh to the Roleplaying experience and should pay attention. Metagame is the use of outside knowledge in the forum universe, so for example, if Tom were to lay down six land mines in a hallway that was well lit and there were no landmines in another dark hallway and Bob came by, wouldn't he move down the well lit hall? Well, unfortunately some people don't listen to common sense and because they know (out of character, in their own head) that landmines are there, they make up some terrible excuse and don't use that hallway. Staff will force post edits if such a thing occurs, and if its repeated then that dark hallway might have a few Crimson Heads, five Lickers, and a Tyrant in it. You've been warned.

II. Godmodding is also not allowed, godmodding is the performance of actions that a character is not actually capable of in order to act like they're 'god'. This is also known as 'power-playing'. The forum already stretches reality a fair bit (bullets don't do HP damage, they kill you with gaping holes in vital organs) and it doesn't need your help with that. This is not Naruto, explosions are very painful and will knock you on your butt. This is not Bleach, stab wounds are not just ignored like you hit somebody with cardboard. This is not Full Metal Alchemist, this is not Soul Eater, this is not Megaman, Pokemon, Digimon, Yugioh, or any other thing you can think of. Resident Evil is a sci-fi universe, it still adheres to normal physical laws, do NOT ignore them.

III. No short posts, nothing much to say about it. If you can't post above 200 words then you need to buckle up and figure out how because anything less will require edits for length. Its not that much to ask for, and most people are easily capable of this feat, so please don't pretend like the site is asking for you to pull down an oil tanker from the sky with kinetic energy channeled through your retina. This is a simple task.

IV. If you fail to specify something, don't complain when other people assume things in order to post. If you don't post and say that you're character isn't wearing the Umbrella logo on their uniform when the character information says they always wear their uniform then don't expect other people to not abuse that. Pay attention.

V. The Staff will add rules as is necessary and will enforce quality roleplay. If the rule isn't here, and its a problem, it will be addressed and it will then be added to the rules for future notice.
